NYU Steinhardt Insights, Impact, and Innovation Newsletter
Content Organization, Email Storytelling
In NYU Steinhardt’s Office of Communications, we identified a need for a new email newsletter that kept our partners, audiences, and stakeholders informed about the incredible work happening at Steinhardt. A prior newsletter, centered on education research, didn’t reflect the full breadth of Steinhardt’s impact — in arts, culture, health, human development, and more.
I worked with the Senior and Assistant Directors of Communication to strategize a quarterly newsletter to be sent to senior NYU leadership, deans at peer education institutions, and the list of 600+ alumni, faculty, students, and community members who signed up to stay informed about Steinhardt’s work.
My contributions included:
Creating flexible content “buckets” and determining their layout for each newsletter
Curating content each quarter depending on Dean Knott’s priorities
Naming the newsletter to encompass thought leadership, community outreach, events, etc.
Determining audiences and managing CRM audience profiles
Ensuring representation across departments, programs, and educational pillars
Designing the newsletter template in collaboration with our web team
Each quarter, I ghostwrite an upfront note from the dean, then fill in our content buckets (and create new ones) with relevant stories, media hits for faculty, and upcoming public-facing events. For our Winter 2025 newsletter, I created a new “by the numbers” section with impact statistics from 2024. With a very restrictive email platform that offers limited design options, we went with a simple, clean layout that prioritized our stories.
